A Rabbit’s Foot’s fifth issue: Journeys is finally launching this September. As the only long-read film journal in the English language, the next instalment continues to bring our readers the same, high value in-depth conversations with the greatest artists in cinema, complemented with original, unseen photography, and art-direction from Broad Peak Studio.

What can you expect from Issue 5? Focusing on the internal and external creative journeys, we put the spotlight on the filmmakers and actors who have sought new frontiers of expression. From the academy-award winning Alfonso Cuarón, who welcomed us into his home to talk about the directing process, to Alicia Vikander, who explains the power of dance as a performer, Peter Weir, on the underseen, underrated romance The Year of Living Dangerously, and the great Wim Wenders, the pioneer of New German Cinema, who shares untold stories about his career and the importance of urgency when making art—all shared alongside selected photographs from his life on the road. 

There are new faces, too. The emergence of Celine Song (Past Lives), Emma Seligman (Bottoms), and Davy Chou (Return to Seoul) has informed separate long-read interviews in our New Visions section, giving readers the opportunity to learn more about the next generation of filmmakers in conversation, at this point in their careers. 

Molly Manning Walker, whose movie How to Have Sex won the Un Certain Regard award at Cannes joins us for an exclusive photoshoot with Magnum photographer Lúa Ribeira, shot in East London with her all-female football team Baby City FC. And for the first time, master filmmaker Paul Schrader talks about how he found the role of Iris in Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver. 

Jonathan Becker paints an intimate story of his relationship with the photography titan Brassaï, and film essayist Peter Bradshaw observes the colourful, difficult relationship between Werner Herzog and Klaus Kinski on the classic Fitzcarraldo. 

As ever, we look beyond the silver screen too. Our music section includes conversations with soul singer Snoh Aalegra and the cult Brazilian artist Renata Rosa, while we turn the page with historian Peter Frankopan and an essay on the excessive life of Tennessee Williams for our literature chapter.
