Students and professionals will be sure to find inspiration from the spectacular urban, regional and coastal architecture featuring cutting edge environmental ideas.
Ultimo Numero:
In this issue I pulled together a selection that are highly specific to each of their particular environments and needs. From the earthy and rugged for an off-grid rural home to the quirky and clever for a tight city pad.
Elsewhere we look at a passive house for an energy and comfort obsessed client, a cabin designed through reassembly of salvaged materials on Tasmania’s Bruny Island, a retreat for 12 made almost entirely from raw timber and a transformed 1970s home of courtyards and roof terraces in Brunswick Heads.
On Victoria’s shipwreck coast we admire a garden of grasses and giant slabs of rock that are the perfect ballast for the buffeting winds, in Europe a group of landscape architects are working wonders with discarded building waste and our profile looks at a local group making bricks naturally.
Our Not Wasted regular feature explores the stripping, cataloguing and reusing of building materials in the renovation of a municipal building c1967 in Copenhagen, preserving yet transforming it for a new life.
Finally our travel feature visits a design festival in Bali, set amongst the ruins of a theme park, softened by the thatched and organic installations that share stories of environmental recovery alongside products of great craftsmanship and integrity.
